Footage: William Wareing © Yoko Ono LennonA newly created official music video for John Lennon‘s acoustic ballad “Look at Me,” a song from his 1970 debut solo studio album, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, has premiered on Lennon’s YouTube channel.
The clip features recently unearthed 1968 film footage of John and Yoko Ono at home, presented in the high-res 4K format, accompanied by the new “Ultimate Mix” of “Look at Me” that will appear on the expansive reissue of Plastic Ono Band that’s due out on April 23.
The “Ultimate Mix” of “Look at Me” also has been released as an advance track via streaming services.
The previously unseen footage was shot on 8-millimeter film by camera operator William Wareing and his crew between takes of John and Yoko’s movie projects Film No. 5 and Two Virgins. The video features various black-and-white and color clips appearing simultaneously side by side.
The video features glimpses of Lennon playing acoustic guitar and petting a cat, Ono dancing by a swimming pool, the film crew setting up, and John and Yoko sweetly kissing. We also see the drum skin that’s appears on the cover of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and John’s psychedelic-painted upright piano.
As previously reported, the John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band — The Ultimate Collection reissue, which you can pre-order now, features 159 tracks spread across six CDs and two Blu-ray audio discs, including 87 previously unreleased recordings.
In addition to a new mix of the original album and the three solo singles Lennon released in advance of the record — “Give Peace a Chance,” “Cold Turkey” and “Instant Karma! (We All Shine On)” — the reissue features a bevy of demos, rehearsal takes, outtakes, jams, studio chatter and much more.
